What better way to give your friends a wedding present than to help them out a bit in the bedroom area.  My friend confided in me about a little something something so taking the powers invested in me I turned to a Calgary Boutique that is A Little More Interesting.  A Little More Interesting on the corner of 15th Street and 17th Avenue S.W. gave me exactly what I was looking for in the discretion of a very tastefully put together establishment.  There is a group of leather sofas one can lounge on while demonstrating the wares and perusing through a well selected book library and video collection.  There is even a lingerie store adjacent to A Little More Interesting called Pink Ginger Lingerie for the more courageous and creative.  The most impressive part of my shopping experience was how knowledgeable the staff is and their authentic commitment to providing only the highest quality of products from non-toxic materials.  So come have a tea or coffee compliments of the store and enjoy a very safe shopping experience.

My sister and I came to your store this summer, it was nice to find a place that didn't remind me of some cheep cheesy novelty shop or perv place. I enjoyed and appreciated the personalized service and shop tour. I purchased the We Vibe, Iceberg Lovebumper and some Afterglow. I wanted to share with you that the we vibe was a disappointment to me. I don't think they are suited to high strung people like myself. Probably designed for those who are easily organismic. But on the up side, I love the Iceberg, it's a perfect fit for it's intended purpose. No more aches and pains while love making. The afterglow massage candle was much fun, I have fig leaf, but next time I think I would choose a candle withless scent.

I went into the calgary store recently looking for lingerie for a friend { who is size 2} and for myself { who is size 14 }. Well we both came out of the store VERY happy! I was impressed with the range of sizes, customer service and overall atmosphere of the store.

Call me a prude, but I have never been in a porn shop. A Little More Interesting (voted best in the city on Fastforward Magazine(sic)) is far from the dark, curtained-off, back of the video store stalked by greasy men in sunglasses and trench coats I had been expecting. It is bright and open with hardwood floors, and displays of every vibrator, whip and, “What do you think that does?” you can imagine. All “approved by the doctor on staff,” I am told by the sales clerk in her matter-of-fact tone and straight face. 

After browsing the videos and feeling a little weird reading the back of Debbie Does Dallas, I decide an erotic novel is more my style. Got a minute… a collection of erotic quickies sounds like fun. Kyle decides on a book about the best sex positions ever. (He should have been at yoga this morning.)

We don't see ourselves as a porn shop.  I realize that the taboo of expressing our sexuality has resulted in labels which are often used for all shops that carry adult products.  Yes we have "porn" but it is a very small part of what we carry. Just like everything else in the store it is carefully selected.  

I am glad that you were pleasantly surprised by your experience in our store.  We try very hard to provide an atmosphere that respects you as a real person and not take the easy route of targeting the lowest common denominator.

My friends and I visited your store a few days ago and I must admit I was a little nervous at first, but the employees who helped us were SO GREAT! they made us all feel very comfortable and at ease.  You have an amazing store and I'm sure we'll all be back next time we are in Calgary!

Thank you for providing such a positive place for Calgary couples.  My husband and I were walking by and stopped because your sign looked different.  We were more than pleasantly surprised.  Your store and staff are such a positve contrast to the other "sex stores" we have visited.

I love the store, but recently one of the employees and I were talking about anal sex, and she shared her experiences with me and she said that she didn't think that she thought I really wanted to try it, even though my partner and I have talked about and wanted to make it positive for me. Obviously our top priority.

After talking to her about it, I was more hesitant and more nervous. If employees have their own negative thoughts about a sexual act maybe they should keep it to themselves.

Our Response:

We apologize if our staff made you feel more uncomfortable.  Of course, our staff at times make mistakes and don't come across in the way they mean to.  We very much feel that anal sex can be part of a positive sexual relationship.   

We do caution anyone who is trying anal sex for the first time to be careful and gentle.  It isn't like the movies.  We suggest reading the guide to anal sex on our website or a book on the topic.  When done correctly, it can be an amazingly erotic experience.  When done incorrectly, it can be painful. 

The one thing we would put out there, if you think its right for you as a couple, talk about and try it.  

We apologize if anyone made you feel uncomfortable.  All of us at A little More Interesting will take this opportunity to reflect on how we communicate with our patrons and each other.  We encourage open truthful communications but we also respect that our opinions are just that and you know yourself best.

Thank you for a wonderfully positive experience at your store today. My husband and I are relative newlyweds (married in September 2007), but our sex life has never been the     most...interesting. Brian kindly toured us around the store  today, 'demonstrating' the products, and in the end we spent  about $400 on our sex life. I thought I would check out your  website for more ways to spend our hard-earned Christmas bonuses, but instead stumbled upon Sue's blog and read about your challenges over the past year. What a wonderfully honest and open concept. I believe you are both shining examples of what hard work and commitment can do. Your store is a breath  of fresh air, we agreed on the way home that no matter who shops there (Paris Hilton knock-offs or other loving couples included), that we want more and more people to shop there to make sure you stay in business for as long as people are having sex in Calgary!

We are looking forward to using our We-Vibe once it's charged  (our friends who received Wii-Fits for Christmas can all be jealous that our "We" toy is much more fun).

Thank you so much for bringing your store (and your personal  life) to us. I also noted that Brian posted today - from today we would never have known how much pain he was in.  Please know that if nothing else, you brought joy into someone else's life today -- and I think that's one of life's simplest pleasures.

I have been reading this blog off and on for a few months now, and I have always come away with a sense of awe and inspiration. I am truly in awe of the strength the two of you possess, whether you realize it or not. There are not many couples who could have fought through everything you two have and come out on the other side, let alone, have the courage to share it with people. Most blogs are somewhat anonymous, but, to anyone who has visited your store, there really is no anonymity. I wish you two the absolute best of luck as you carry on down the road your lives have taken.

I have only been in 3 other sex stores. I have found all of them dirty and not friendly. I walked in to ALMI and was amazed. It was clean, open and all the products were on the shelves to touch and check out before buying. All the questions I had were answered and I felt calm and relaxed. I am not comfortable talking about what toys my partner or I would like normally but in the store I was fine. I was there on Wednesday and bought my partner and friends in on Sunday to show off how wonderful both the store and staff was. We are already planning another visit to the store for more fun items.         

I would like to say Thank you for making me feel comfortable.

I have enjoyed a lengthy and exquisite sex life with a variety of partners, but had hit a lull four years into a marriage with a great guy I love deeply. As he has trouble talking about "stuff", I was truly in the dark as to how to kick it up a notch while still pleasing him. I had been to "porn stores" years ago, and always found them a bit sleezy. When I walked into ALMI, I felt at ease right away. I was able to talk to the wonderful rep and she really listened and gave me several ideas regarding products that could help him show me what he liked without putting him on the spot. I never once felt pressured to buy anything in the tasteful, relaxing store. I left that day with five products and that night we watched a very well done video while using a massage candle and enjoyed hours of the kind of sex we had while we were first dating. The adventure continued free form the next morning with no candles or videos, just on the strength of the previous encounter. He knows I have a few more "tricks" hidden away for him and is pleasantly curious about it, and very comfortable, too. I made sure to leave the store's card out on the counter in case he feels brave enough to go and research his own picks there. I will continue to put the word out about your store.  There should two more couples visiting your store soon.  I explained your concept to them and they were very enthusiastic.

Everyone I talk to about what you’re doing (that is almost everyone I know) thinks it's a great idea.

I was in your store today with a friend picking up a few things for my girlfriend.  Thank you for your advice by the way, my girlfriend loved the products you helped me choose and the Lelo is charging as I write. 

You mentioned that you were interested in hearing feedback on your store. I have just had a look on your website and enjoyed the information and layout.  One suggestion is that you could include a "Products" heading under which you could list the products/manufacturers that you carry in your store. 

I have taken a look at some of the manufacturers that you carry(JimmyJane, GunOil and Lelo) and they all have very nice websites.  It is clear from the outset that these companies offer products that are superior to those commonly carried in other shops.

Customers who follow the links to these sites from your webpage may be even more likely to patronize your store once they see the difference in your product line.  Just a suggestion, keep up the good work.
